Wind was picking up all day so I went out as soon as it started gustign to
30 knots. It was a little gusty to start with and although I was up and
planing the whole time, there were quite a few holes in the wind and a
little more would have been handy.
Had a few runs like that, then the wind filled in a little more and finally
I was up and flying properly, blasted out to the bar, did a jump, landed it
and snapped my board in two. It snapped clean across in between the front
and back footstraps. It wasn''t even a particularly hard landing, but it
was game over for me. The bottom of the board stayed in tact, but only just
and I was able to just about sail it back by standing around the front
straps with the tail flapping about behind me.
Pretty annoyed really as I loved that board and it was only a year old.
I've never owned a board from brand new before as Ive always bought second
hand, but this one was my first ever new board and it only lasted a year.
I've never snapped a board before and I'm pretty sure it shouldn't be that
easy to do.
The wind filled in properly once I got back home, reaching around 40 knots
so I should really have gone back out on my smaller board, was didn't
bother.
